Ankle Sprains – The Basics
It can happen so quickly.
Step off a kerb, stand on a bump or land awkwardly whilst jumping and you roll your ankle.
You have that panic as you think something must be broken….but it is only a sprain. We say “only”, but a sprain can also take time to heal. It needs care and attention so you can get back to doing what you enjoy, as quickly as possible.
The ankle joint is a complex joint and doing the wrong thing when you hurt it can lead to months of rehab.
There are many ways that the ankle can be sprained. It is one of the most common injuries you can sustain. Sometimes it can repair naturally and sometimes it will be terribly serious.
We chat to expert podiatrist, Sam Abdelmalek about all the different ways you can sprain your ankle and how to treat it.
