Preventing Yoga Injuries Through Strengthening Practice with Dr Travis Pollen
Dr Travis Pollen is an Exercise Science Professor, personal trainer, author, PhD in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, yoga teacher and American record holding Paralympic swimmer.
His research interests focus on movement screening, identifying injury risk and returning to sports for athletes.
In this video, William Chen (physiotherapist) at HealthAide chats to Travis about what exactly is an injury the complexity of how injuries happen, and what risk factors are commonly involved. He goes onto explain the importance of identifying these risk factors and simple strategies for how to do it.
Travis is also a yoga teacher and he talks about, although not very common, how injuries can occur in yoga practice, and most importantly how you can reduce its risk by incorporating effective strengthening exercises.
